The scroll over Jesus' head shows INRI, "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews" as ordered by Pilate. The left symbol pictures the rent veil of the temple exposing the Ark of the Covenant as stated in Matthew 27:51. The right panel show the crown of thorns and three nails signifying the torture Jesus endured.
