Central Christian Church offers many opportunities for children, youth, and adults to get together. There are annual holiday events including the church Thanksgiving dinner and Easter morning breakfast. There are also annual children's activities including hunts for Easter eggs. Here is a sample of Easter 2004 at Central Christian Church
Youth entering the 5th grade and up are invited to attend the Sunday Evening youth group which meets the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month. They have mini Bible lessons, group discussions, do volunteering in the community, help with the Thanksgiving Community Dinner, hold a car wash, and do projects around the church as needed.
Youth completing the 6th grade and up (Chi Rho) participate in a Downtown Youth Group (DYG) on the 4th Sunday of each month. Currently, eight downtown churches are participating in this group. Each church sponsors one evening event during the year. They have gone on a scavenger hunt, bowling, corn maze, played kickball, held a 30 Hour Famine, had group discussions and mini Bible lessons. In July a picnic is held with water games at McNaughton Park. The youth have raised funds from a chicken BBQ and car wash to go on a mission trip this June to Harlan, KY.
At Central Christian Church we never talk about our youth without
speaking
about our young at heart, the Vintage Voyagers, who have
monthly meetings
for food and fellowship. Other groups include Quilters,
Line Dancing,
and Square Dancers.
